PR: Linux Networx Asia and DigiGenomics Penetrate Biotech Market
Posted by Kenneth Farmer, Wednesday February 26 2003 @ 01:22PM EST

SALT LAKE CITY, Feb. 26, 2003 - Linux Networx Asia, K.K. announced today an international distribution agreement has been signed with Taiwan-based DigiGenomics Co., Ltd. DigiGenomics, a leading supplier to the bioinformatics industry in Taiwan, is the first new distributor to be announced in Asia since the formation of Linux Networx Asia in December 2002.

DigiGenomics will sell Linux Networx Evolocity(TM) clusters to bioinformatics companies demanding high performance computing (HPC) and high availability (HA) in Taiwan and Hong Kong. DigiGenomics has already begun to develop a customer base for Evolocity and recently sold Linux Networx systems to Chang Gung University and a major microbiology research institute in Taiwan. As a distributor of Linux Networx systems, DigiGenomics will offer customers a complete life science cluster solution including hardware, software and support.

"Linux cluster technology is receiving attention in emerging markets such as the life sciences, due to its scalability and excellent price/performance," said Joey Chen, president of DigiGenomics. "Linux Networx has proven technologies in the cluster arena and will help DigiGenomics position itself as a total solution provider."

Linux clustering is a method of linking multiple computers together to form a unified and more powerful system. Linux Networx recently shipped a 11.2 teraFLOP cluster, which currently ranks as the world's fastest Linux supercomputer, and the fifth overall fastest supercomputer in the world (www.top500.org).

"DigiGenomics is well positioned to take advantage of the growing demand for turnkey Linux clusters to meet HPC and HA needs in Taiwan and Hong Kong," said Clark Roundy, vice president of international operations for Linux Networx. "As Linux Networx Asia expands, we aim to add quality distributors like DigiGenomics and enter additional untapped markets in Asia."

With reseller partners already established in many parts of North America, Asia and Europe, Linux Networx aims to continue expanding its reach into other top international markets. Companies can find out more about becoming a Linux Networx reseller or distributor by visiting www.linuxnetworx.com/partner/ or calling 1-800-214-9100.
