PR: Linux Networx Unveils New ICE Box Appliance Features
Posted by Kenneth Farmer, Tuesday April 08 2003 @ 07:43AM EDT

Cluster Management Hardware Appliance Saves Time, Increases Usability

SALT LAKE CITY, April 4, 2003 - Linux Networx announced today new and enhanced features of its award-winning cluster appliance ICE Box™. As the hardware portion of Linux Networx cluster management tools, ICE Box fully integrates with Clusterworx® software to provide the most advanced Linux cluster management solution available. The new ICE Box features save administrators time and increase usability.

Command line enhancements - The improved CLI includes features like command history, command completion, clearing a line, and inserting characters.

Easier to configure - Users can easily view and modify the network settings using the LCD and Keypad on the front of the ICE Box.

Other features include quicker update speeds, a ping command for network diagnosis, and a "home" state that the ICE Box LCD returns to after an hour of unuse.

Standard features of the ICE Box include power management and serial access to nodes over a secure network connection. Support for up to 10 nodes and 2 devices (30 Amps total). ICE Box works with Linux Networx Evolocity Hardware to provide temperature monitoring, emergency beacon control and motherboard reset. Clusterworx provides an easy-to-use GUI interface that provides control of the ICE Box and much more.

This upgrade is available to any customers using a 3.0 ICE Box. Instructions on upgrading and firmware updates are available through:
