Appro - High Performance Enterprise Computing Systems Demonstrates its HyperBlade Cluster Solutions at SC2003

Demonstrations include Appro Cluster Management Solution, Grid Computing, Infiniband, Paraview Visualization Software and its latest 5.1 Compiler and more

Milpitas, CA - November 11, 2003 - Appro (http://www.appro.com), a leading provider of high-performance enterprise computing systems will be demonstrating its HyperBlade Cluster solution at Appro's booth and at their valued partners at the Super Computing show at Phoenix, AZ, November 15-21, 2003. Appro recognizes that businesses require high-performance and high-density computing Linux based clusters that deliver a competitive advantage through greater cost efficiencies. In addition, there is a demand for innovative blade server architecture with the performance and investment protection to scale across the enterprise. The Appro HyperBlade Cluster solution address today's business requirements by providing high-density, reliable and excellent price/performance solutions for a broad range of enterprise and technical computing applications.

Appro booth # 2224 --Appro HyperBlade Full-Size Cluster supports up to 80 blades/160 CPUs in one cabinet, utilizes the Linux operating system and demonstrates the Appro Cluster Management Solutions consisting of Appro BladeDome Remote Management Software and Appro Command Center, cluster management appliance. The Command Center is integrated with BladeDome Remote Management Software providing node power control, platform monitoring such as CPU temperature, fan RPM and power voltages, and remote serial communication. Other features include Blade ID control as well as configurable e-mail notification scheme. Appro Cluster Management Solution is the latest innovation in Appro's HyperBlade Architecture. It delivers cluster management functions, reduces IT complexity and improves administration efficiency while lowering the total cost of ownership. AMD booth # 2219 --AMD, global supplier of integrated circuits for the personal and networked computer and communications markets will demonstrate Appro HyperBlade Full-Size Cluster Solution based on AMD Opteron Processors utilizing Linux Red Hat operating system running Paraview on a 4X Infiniband cluster network provided by Mallenox Technologies. Paraview is an open-source visualization software and is compiled using the latest PGI 5.1 compiler from the Portland Group. This new compiler features unlimited memory size for single data objects, can generate faster x86-64 code and is bundled with the AMD Core Math Library (ACML).

Raytheon booth # 829 --Raytheon Information Solutions will be demonstrating the power of grid computing using 4 compute clusters containing a total of 224 processors. In support of this demonstration, Appro also provided the HyperBlade Full-Size Cluster using 32-AMD Opteron based systems. The Appro HyperBlade Cluster is interconnected using a 3000 series InfiniBand switch provided by InfiniCon Systems.

Computer Science Corporation (CSC) booth # 2707 -- Computing today can simulate the atmosphere for forecasting the weather or vibrate the earth to unravel the complexity of geology. The advection equation moves masses of air and water. The wave equation models vibrations. These complex computational tasks will be demonstrated at SC2003 in the CSC's High Performance Computing booth running the latest in parallel computing and using the HyperBlade Linux cluster based on the Intel Xeon processors powered by Appro.
