PRESS RELEASE

Cepoint’s R-Stor™ Broadcast ready Rx524 6TB, Fault-tolerant, 5U Fail Resilient, Raid Subsystem is ideal for Enterprise Video Streaming applications.

Jan 2, 2004 Nashua, NH. Cepoint Networks Rx524 24-bay, 6TB SATA storage Raid 5 system is definitely the type of RAID server Enterprise IT managers and TV video editors have long awaited. This quarter Cepoint announced it will begin shipping its Enterprise Raid 5 system that has been tailored for high end video broadcast and enterprise video streaming applications. Now video editors and IT managers can warehouse their video and data contents in a single system that holds up to 6TB content and easily scalable to 64TB. For quite some time now, IT managers and systems administrators have worried about compatibility issues of any new system with their current infrastructures and, any future growth requirements. Cepoint Networks' R-STOR Plug-and-Play shared array storage characteristics and its Operating System independence, makes this RAID system totally transparent in most environments. Cepoint's R-STOR is one of the few Enterprise RAID storage system that easily supports multiple operating systems such as; Red Hat Linux 6.2 or later, HP-UX 11.0 or later, IBM AIX 4.3.3 or later, Apple Mac OS 8.0 or later, UnixWare 7.1.1, SCO Open Server 5.0.5, SunSoft Solaris 7, and even Microsoft Windows 2000 / NT4.0/XP/Me, making the system the most adaptable storage solutions for most enterprise computing, video multicasting or broadcasting, telephony and VoIP applications in Windows Linux, or Unix environments. Rx 524 is configurable with up to 6TB storage capacity, using 24 x 250GB Serial-ATA hard drives, and has option of dual 2GB/s Fibre-Channel Host interface with up to 400MB/s data rate, and support for FC-AL (Fibre Channel Arbitrated Loop), point-to-point, switched fabric topology.

For IT managers interested in disk-to-disk storage or disk-to-tape storage back-up implementation is simple, since SCSI-FCP (SCSI-Fibre Channel), IP, and FC-Tape protocols are supported.

Redundant, hot-swappable power supplies and fault-tolerant features suitable for clustering in enterprise computing environment are included. The system complements the company’s other high availability RAID storage, NAS, SAN, SCSI RAID servers, SATA and Fibre Channel RAID solutions for audio/video online streaming, data storage widely used in telephony and telecommunications enterprise applications. Model Rx524 is crafted with excellent cooling systems, dual hot-swappable (900 watts, N + 1 ) redundant power supplies, and RAID levels 0, 1, 5, 50 and JBOD. Its blazing performance and reliability makes it excellent for wide range of enterprise computing such as data warehousing and call center management applications where 24 x 7 mission-critical operations is important. Multiple Rx524 can be daisy chained to 64TB. Pricing for 6TB SATA version starts from under $16,500 for OEM’s and is now shipping.
