TeamHPC, Inc. assembles group of industry leaders focused on HPC and software development
Posted by TeamHPC, Thursday April 01 2004 @ 02:54PM EST

Lawrence, KS (April 1, 2004) – TeamHPC, Inc. announced today that it had successfully finalized the structure of a new corporate entity focused solely on Open Source development, customized software applications and High Performance Computing.

In setting up the new corporate structure, TeamHPC, Inc. has assembled a group of Linux engineers and sales and marketing professionals. Corporate focus will continue with software support to existing industry customers that have purchased Beowulf Type computational machines as well as a long list of some of the nations leading researchers.

The opportunity continues TeamHPC’s strategic transformation of building a worldwide support infrastructure and local manufacturing for Open Source solutions. TeamHPC will continue to support microprocessor infrastructures from both Intel and Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) as well as support for the industries fastest network interconnects. The company will also function as an end-to-end provider of Linux-based hardware, software, and professional services.

Former Atipa Technologies CTO, Mr. Rocky McGaugh, will lead all technical advancements. Mr. McGaugh has been very instrumental in providing the building blocks for some of the first professionally installed Beowulf Type computational clusters. He was also responsible for building the software foundation for LSU’s Supermike, currently ranked within the top 30 Supercomputers in the World. Mr. McGaugh is Intel Itanium 2 certified as well as AMD Opteron certified. Mr. McGaugh’s industry experience is crucial to the ever-changing Open Source software movement in today’s marketplace. Mr. McGaugh has assembled one of the finest technical groups in the industry. Joining Mr. McGaugh are employees Mr. Will Dinkel, Kernel Developer, and Open Source Clustering Engineers Mr. Mark Bosma, Mr. Phil Regier and Mr. Kurt Gilpin as well as a seasoned hardware, software and accounting support infrastructure. The entire organization currently employs over 68 people and the Linux Technologists have over 25 years of combined experience in building clustering solutions with the Linux Operating System.

“TeamHPC, Inc. presents the perfect synergy of sales, engineering, production and development expertise that will enable us to focus on our customers primary needs in the Open Source environment,” stated Rocky McGaugh, CTO of TeamHPC, Inc. “There are now no barriers to the level of service that we can deliver. The direct benefits to our customers will be significant and immediate. This will allow positive growth as we maintain our ability to exert our leadership in the market place. TeamHPC, Inc. can now target certain niches in the High Performance Computing space. I am proud of the team that we have assembled and am certain our customers will see huge benefits in working closely with TeamHPC, Inc.”

Former Atipa Technologies Director, Mr. Bret Stouder, will lead TeamHPC’s business model. Mr. Stouder was instrumental in the growth of Atipa Technologies from a small start-up, to a recognized name in the field of Open Source solutions. Mr. Chris Allison, National Sales Manager, and his team of high performance clustering specialists accompany Mr. Stouder in the business growth efforts.

Team HPC, Inc. will continue to manufacture workstation and server products under the strict guidelines of ISO-9001: 2000. The International Organization of Standards developed these Quality System Requirements and this is the industry recognized standard for Quality Management Systems. Adherence to the standard requires documentation and continuous improvement of the processes for design, production, and delivery of products and services to customers.

“The decision to focus all of our corporate resources exclusively on the development of Open Source software and the clustering sector of our business reflects a firm commitment to the growing HPC customer base. This is the customer that utilizes commodity machines for research and development,” said Bret Stouder, TeamHPC’s President. “I am very excited about the ability to provide our team with the tools necessary to ensure our solutions are being turned around in a manner that allows TeamHPC to grow rapidly and meet mandated industry deadlines for delivery. I believe our technical capabilities speak for themselves and our sales team is very seasoned for a smooth transition. Industry support from new customers, the component manufacturers, and the interconnect manufacturers has been incredible. This is by far the most positive experience I have ever been involved with while in the business.”
