SteelEye LifeKeeper Enables High Availability Clustering of Next Generation 64-Bit Linux Systems

Mountain View, California - August 3, 2004 - SteelEye Technology® Inc., a leading provider of proven enterprise IT reliability solutions for business continuity, today announced the availability of SteelEye LifeKeeper High Availability Clustering for Linux version 4.5, the latest release of SteelEye's award-winning technology for ensuring fault resilience of industry-standard Intel-based and plug compatible industry standard servers.

The cornerstone of this new release of LifeKeeper High Availability Clustering for Linux is certified support for servers and blades powered by Intel® Itanium® 2 and AMD Opteron™ chip-sets.

Overview of SteelEye LifeKeeper High Availability Clustering for Linux version 4.5

- Support for Itanium and Opteron Platforms SteelEye delivers one version of LifeKeeper which covers both the 32-bit and 64-bit environments and both Intel and AMD platforms.

LifeKeeper for Linux version 4.5 has been certified against a set of Itanium2 and Opteron platforms running the following Linux distributions:

Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS 3 for Itanium, Update 2
Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS 3 for AMD64, Update 2
SUSE SLES8 for Itanium
SUSE SLES8 for AMD64

The following SteelEye LifeKeeper recovery modules have been tested and updated for 64-bit environments:

LifeKeeper Core (file System, IP, raw I/O, generic application)
Databases: DB2, Oracle, Sybase, MySAP
LifeKeeper Data Replication v4
Infrastructure: Apache, NFS Server, Logical Volume Manager (LVM)

- Certification of Latest Linux Kernels LifeKeeper for Linux v4.5 has been certified with the following Linux kernels from Red Hat and Novell SUSE for the enterprise distributions:

SUSE SLES 8 SP3 2.4.21-215
Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS 3 U2 2.4.21-15.EL
Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS 2.1 U4 2.4.9-e.40 (32-bit only)
