Gitex Dubai Hosts Latest Intel, AMD Platforms From Tyan
Posted by Kenneth Farmer, Saturday October 02 2004 @ 12:01AM EDT

GITEX DUBAI 2004, October 3rd, 2004 - Tyan(r), a world leader in server and workstation technology, plans to showcase leading-edge platform and system solutions at GITEX, the largest global IT event for the Middle East region. The GITEX DUBAI event for 2004 is set to take place at the Dubai World Trade Centre Complex with a record number of attendees for this year's event.

As a market leader in developing products for the next generation of IT products and services from customers the world over, Tyan will have a full range of both Intel and AMD products with which to demonstrate to customers in coordination with THACKER FZE, one of the largest distributors selling to the Middle East and North Africa regions.

Products on display include several newly unveiled single and multi-processor Intel(r) and AMD server and workstation platforms, designed for multiple business environments including small, medium, and enterprise level IT infrastructures. All of these highly-integrated platforms include support for the Intel Xeon(tm), Pentium(r) 4, or AMD Athlon(tm) 64 or Opteron(tm) processors, and have incredible features such as multiple Gigabit Ethernet LAN connections, USB 2.0 and FireWire (1394a) ports, Serial ATA with RAID, and a wide variety of hardware monitoring and control functionality.

Of special interest will be Tyan's introduction of the Tomcat i7221 (S5150), which uses the Intel E7221 "Copper River" chipset to provide customers with stunning capabilities such as PCI Express* and PCI-X expansion options, DDR400/333 Dual-Channel Unbuffered memory with ECC support, dual Gigabit Ethernet ports operating on a PCI Express bus, and powerful flexibility in storage functions through support of Tyan's TARO SO-DIMM add-on SCSI and SATA expansion modules with RAID support.

In addition to system platforms, Tyan will also demonstrate the Transport line of pre-built barebones servers which enable customers to quickly build infrastructures or fulfill project requirements with Tyan's ready-to-use 1U and 2U system solutions. The Transport product line delivers highly-capable and configurable features such as multiple Gigabit Ethernet connections, hot-swap storage capabilities for SCSI or Serial ATA device support, pre-installed CD-ROM drives, and hardware monitoring and control. In particular, the Transport TX46 (B4882) identifies as a product for the cluster and high-power computing segments with support for up to four (4) AMD Opteron 800 Series Processors, two hot-swap SCSI drive bays, multiple rear PCI/PCI-X expansion ports for low-profile card support, 700W PS with PFC, and a complete set of accessories including a rackmount rail kit.

"GITEX DUBAI serves as an excellent forum in which suppliers from all over the world can come together in one region to showcase the latest technologies to one of the strongest growing regions in the market today," said Don Clegg, Tyan's Vice President of Marketing and Strategic Programs. "Tyan's involvement in the GITEX DUBAI 2004 event marks a new step forward into working with many new customers from the Middle East region to help grow solutions and build businesses through Tyan's accolade-winning service and support."

Tyan will be at Hall 2, Booth #212. For more information and details about Tyan or Tyan products, please visit Tyan's corporate website at http://www.tyan.com
