The Inquirer: AS THE NERDS and related gangs descended on yet another IDF earlier this month, there would have been a few among them interested in the Itanium futures - not too many probably, looking at the platform's popularity (or lack of it) right now. While 'revolutionary' stuff like Alpha-inspired Tukwilla is still beyond the horizon in far-future 2007 or beyond, the near-term promises to restore Itanium's performance and cost competitiveness rests with the Montecito and its related cousins, due next year.
