Mandrakesoft bundles Java Database - Daffodil DB - with Mandrakelinux 10.1
Posted by Rohit Malhotra, Saturday December 04 2004 @ 02:38AM EST

Gurgaon, India - 02nd December, 2004: Mandrakesoft has announced the bundling of the popular Java RDBMS - Daffodil DB v3.3 - with Mandrakelinux 10.1 PowerPack. The bundled version of Daffodil DB is its 90-day evaluation version, which has the same features and capabilities as the commercial version.

Daffodil DB is a J2EE-certified, JDBC 3.0 and SQL 99 compliant Java database. It has been designed to handle complex computing environments that demand a robust, scalable and high-performance RDBMS that can operate across platforms.

Mandrakelinux 10.1 PowerPack is a powerful Linux OS that integrates databases, office applications, multimedia and the internet - simultaneously also catering to the needs of the advanced user.

The integration of Daffodil DB as a default database in Mandrakelinux offers a greater degree of choice to the fraternity of developers. This comes after a series of stringent tests in lab environs to ensure tighter and seamless integration of Daffodil DB with Mandrakelinux.

Expressing happiness over the successful bundling of Daffodil DB with Mandrake Linux, Klara Mika, ISV Partner Manager, Mandrakesoft said, "This bundling has come after a series of tests for compatibility of Daffodil DB with Mandrake Linux. While Mandrake Linux already bundles native databases like MySQL, PostgreSQL etc., bundling Daffodil DB will give our customers an added option for Java database. Daffodil DB should be helpful to developers building Java applications around Linux."

Commenting on this news, Yogesh Agarwal (CEO, Daffodil Software) said, "This is good news for the Linux community. It is also a testament to the overall quality of Daffodil DB, as it is the only Java RDBMS to be bundled, along with other popular native databases such as MySQL. The move will ensure that Mandrakelinux users will not need to download and install a Java database if they require one. Choice is the essence of today's business environs, and Mandrakesoft have offered just that by bundling Daffodil DB."
