    Etnus Announces Enhanced Memory Debugging Capabilities in TotalView Release 6.7

    TotalView is an advanced 32- and 64-bit graphical debugger providing software engineers with complete control over threaded and parallel applications written in C, C++ or Fortran. Not your average debugger, TotalView also provides unique, proprietary memory debugging technology that neither instruments code nor alters libraries. TotalView's memory debugging features are fully integrated into the debugger. And, the user experience is enhanced by an on-demand, view-based approach that eliminates the need to wait for post-mortem style reports common in stand-alone memory tools.

    Version 6.7 further enhances TotalView’s advanced memory debugging experience. The new sophisticated Graphical Heap Browser displays an easy to read map of a program’s heap, with granularity down to the single block, denoting block status by color. At a glance, users see the entirety of heap activity, including which blocks are leaking memory. Users can select an individual block for more information, and get a back trace from the selected block, allowing them to easily identify the source of the error in the code. Because TotalView’s memory debugger is interactive and on-demand, users view heap status dynamically as they debug their program.

    Other memory debugging enhancements include the ability to filter out unwanted information, export memory debugging data to other files for analysis and visualization by other applications, and broader ability to customize debugging sessions.
