Linux Networx Appoints René Copeland to Lead Global Sales and Marketing
Posted by Kenneth Farmer, Wednesday March 30 2005 @ 02:16PM EST

SALT LAKE CITY, Mar. 30, 2005 - Linux Networx announced today the addition of René G. Copeland as executive vice president for global sales and marketing. Copeland will be responsible for directing the planning, organization and implementation of marketing, sales and business development activities at Linux Networx.

Copeland has over 20 years experience in the high-performance computing (HPC) industry serving in key executive and management positions at Cray, SGI and IBM. Most recently, he was vice president of sales for Platform Computing Inc. where he managed sales for the government, life sciences and other vertical markets.

In his 17-year career at Cray Research, Copeland held a number of executive-level sales and marketing positions. He then joined Cray Inc. as vice president of sales and marketing where he managed the marketing efforts and the sales activities in the United States, Europe and Asia Pacific.

"Linux Networx is recognized in the industry for its continual improvement of products and services to help customers accomplish their computing goals," said Copeland. "I look forward to the contributions I'll make in developing new markets, expanding international sales and creating product strategies."

Prior to joining Cray Inc., Copeland managed the world-wide manufacturing segment at IBM Corp. for the RS/6000 SP supercomputer and held a variety of senior positions at SGI Inc. Copeland also serviced as President and CEO of Instrumental Inc., a start-up software company focused on productivity software for the UNIX high-performance computing market.

Copeland graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point with a B.S. Electrical Engineering and later received a M.B.A. from the University of Chicago.

"René Copeland is highly respected in the HPC community for his knowledge and expertise in this industry," said Dean Hutchings, president of Linux Networx. "His responsibilities will play a vital role in Linux Networx's long-term international sales and marketing strategies as we establish new markets and develop products to meet the unique needs of our customers."
