Arkeia Achieves Certification with MySQL Network Program
Posted by Jeffrey Swartz, Monday April 18 2005 @ 12:28PM EDT

SANTA CLARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 18, 2005--Arkeia Corp. announced today the full certification of its MySQL hot backup plug-in with the MySQL Network Silver Certified Partner program. Arkeia, the leading provider of backup and recovery solutions for Linux-based environments and one of the early MySQL partners, made the announcement at the MySQL Users Conference.

The widely used MySQL hot backup plug-in allows Arkeia users to develop a flexible backup strategy that protects information without interruption. Utilizing Arkeia's convenient GUI navigator, the plug-in performs either incremental, differential or full MySQL backup while data is online and accessible. It is compatible with both Arkeia Network Backup and Arkeia Server Backup.

Arkeia has worked closely with MySQL for more than 3 years, keeping pace with the continuing development of this popular open source database. The Arkeia hot backup plug-in is compatible with versions of MySQL starting from 3.21 through version 4.x. It functions with all table formats. Arkeia products are compatible with a variety of operating systems including Linux, Unix, Windows, Mac OS X, AIX, FreeBSD, HP-UX, Irix, Novell Netware and others.

"Arkeia's long-term relationship with MySQL is part of our common commitment to provide enterprise-class solutions for Linux environments," commented Frederic Renard, Arkeia marketing and alliances director. "Our certified plug-in delivers unequaled speed, reliability, and ease of use for system administrators who take advantage of MySQL's proven database solution."

"Arkeia's early support of MySQL with its professional hot backup solution has resulted in fast, reliable and easy-to-use network backup for MySQL customers," said Bertrand Matthelie, director of Alliances at MySQL AB. "Arkeia's certification in the MySQL Network Partner Program ensures that customers can continue to rely on secure, fully integrated data protection with Arkeia along with the reliability and up-time provided by MySQL Network."

Arkeia state-of-the-art technology integrates smoothly with MySQL's solution to provide fast backup, thanks to Arkeia's multi-flow architecture. Multiple MySQL tables are backed up simultaneously, offering significant data rate advantages over other software solutions.

The Arkeia hot backup plug-in for MySQL, along with other Arkeia solutions, is available for free trial from http://www.arkeia.com/hotbackup/mysql.
