AMD and HP Post Record Performance for Dual-Core Systems With PathScale EkoPath Compiler Suite

AMD and HP Produce Unprecedented Performance Results for Dual-Core Systems Using the PathScale EkoPath Compiler Suite

The recently released version 2.1 of the PathScale Compiler Suite for Linux Clusters has been used exclusively by AMD and HP to produce unprecedented performance benchmark results on dual-core x86 systems, it has been learned. SPEC® CPU2000 benchmarks were submitted recently by HP and AMD to the Standard Performance Evaluation Corporation (SPEC), a non-profit corporation formed to establish, maintain and endorse a standardized set of relevant benchmarks that can be applied to the newest generation of high-performance computers. Both the AMD and HP benchmark results are expected to be made public within the next week or two at http://www.spec.org/ .

PathScale, http://www.PathScale.com, says that it optimized its industry-leading EKOPath™ Compiler Suite specifically to provide enhanced support for the new dual-core AMD Opteron™ processors announced this week by AMD. HP, IBM, and Sun have all said that they will market new servers and workstations based on dual-core Opterons.

AMD's revolutionary Direct Connect Architecture with two cores on the same die along with memory and HyperTransport™ technology I/O, enables superior performance per dollar and performance per watt for 32- and 64-bit x86 applications. In close collaboration with AMD's engineers, PathScale optimized version 2.1 of the EKOPath Compiler Suite specifically for Dual-Core AMD Opteron processors. These improvements include code generator performance tuning for OpenMP applications and significantly improved compilation times, enabling AMD and its system partners to produce unprecedented performance benchmark results.

PathScale's EKOPath compilers and InfiniPath interconnect products allow users to deploy Dual-Core AMD Opteron™ processor-based systems for maximum application performance and greater user productivity."
