High Performance Cluster Management Leader Hires Seasoned Professional
Posted by Kenneth Farmer, Tuesday September 20 2005 @ 01:09AM EDT

MARLBOROUGH, Mass., Sept. 19 -- Scali, the leader in high performance clustering solutions for Linux datacenters, appointed Atila Mellilo as Vice President of Engineering. Mellilo will focus on continuing to enhance and advance Scali's suite of cluster management products.

Mellilo brings more than 16 years of technology expertise to Scali. Most recently he was CTO of the banking software division of TietoEnator, Scandinavia's second largest integrator and consulting company. In that position, Mellilo worked in major core technology engagements with many of Europe's largest banks and financial institutions. Prior to this, Mellilo was CTO of c.Rel, a start-up technology company specializing in Card Management and CRM solutions, whose technologies were later sold in 1998 to Accenture. In previous years, Mellilo worked as a consulting manager and software developer for IBM, where he was responsible for database technologies in the banking and finance industries.

"Atila's experience spans a number of key technologies and markets including network management, high performance computing and software development as well as financial services," said Bjorn Skare, President and CEO of Scali. "He understands our high performance cluster management solution and the value it brings to Linux datacenter environments. This makes him uniquely qualified to drive the evolution of our products in keeping with changing market needs."

"It is very encouraging to observe that a growing number of important companies recognize Scali's cluster management software as critical to the productivity of their Linux datacenters," said Mellilo. "I'm looking forward to working with Scali and its customers to continue the Company's efforts towards high performance computing innovation."

Scali's high performance cluster management software provides customers with a cost-effective, scaleable solution for performance driven environments. Strategic benefits of implementing a cluster solution include increased processing speed and more efficient utilization. Scali has helped customers within several key industries including scientific computing, life sciences, manufacturing and oil and gas.
