San Jose CA, September 18, 2008 - Clustercorp, the leader in commercial software and support for the Rocks™ cluster distribution, announced the availability of TotalView Technologies’ application development software solutions for Rocks+.
TotalView Technologies, a provider of interactive analysis and debugging tools for serial and parallel codes, has worked closely with Clustercorp to make TotalView® available as part of Clustercorp’s Rocks+Rolls solution set. Customers can download the TotalView Roll from Clustercorp, then simply visit the TotalView Technologies website (www.totalviewtech.com) to register for an evaluation license or purchase a full license for the TotalView debugger, to help speed application development in a Linux cluster environment.
TotalView is a comprehensive source code analysis and memory error detection tool that dramatically enhances developer productivity by simplifying the process of debugging parallel, data-intensive, multi-process, multi-threaded or network-distributed applications. Built to handle the complexities of the world’s most demanding applications, TotalView is capable of scaling from one to thousands of processes or threads with applications distributed over multiple machines or processors, and offers a number of advanced features that help speed development and eliminate bugs quickly. It also provides visibility into thread creation and grouping via a full graphical user interface, giving developers the ability to analyze bugs to identify the root cause of problems and manipulate and control threads as needed.
"TotalView Technologies is proud to be working with Clustercorp to deliver this solution to HPC customers," said Jim Chafel, vice president of business development at TotalView Technologies. "This integration provides a tremendous value to developers in terms of both simplifying and accelerating the software development process."
By packaging it in a “Roll,” Clustercorp allows for TotalView to be added to any Rocks+ cluster by simply clicking on a check-box at install time or running a few simple commands post-install. The software is tightly integrated into the complete Rocks distribution, which automates deployment and configuration across an entire compute cluster without hands-on intervention from a system administrator.
“The massive Rocks user base makes it advantageous for ISVs to deliver software packages in Roll format, and we are happy to facilitate this process. The TotalView Roll is one of the key value-adds for the recently released Rocks+ 5. Great developer tools are a significant part of what has brought Rocks out of research labs and into the hands of commercial developers,” said Tim McIntire, president, Clustercorp.
Rocks+ is available to end-users direct from Clustercorp and through multiple channels, including Tier 1 HPCC hardware partners (www.clustercorp.com/hardware ) and distributors. Rocks+ is also available to VARs and System Integrators through Tech Data Corporation’s Advanced Infrastructure Solutions Division (see below for procurement details).
Clustercorp, a privately held corporation based in San Jose, California, was founded by core members of the Rocks community who saw a clear need for commercial software, services, and support for the Rocks cluster distribution. Clustercorp’s primary product line is a commercial version of Rocks called Rocks+, which includes Rocks+Support, Rocks+Rolls, and Rocks+Moab.
